The Arizona State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology establishes the minimum required pre-clinical and clinical hours, along with the subjects that must be covered by Board-approved Eyelash Technician Training Programs.

However, in 2024, when providers applied for Board approval, the application process did not include a curriculum review. Training providers were not asked, nor given the opportunity, to submit their curriculum for evaluation.

Instead, the Board required a notarized verification from an Arizona-licensed cosmetologist confirming the instructor had at least two years of full-time professional lash experience.

As a result, Board approval confirms that a program meets Arizona's minimum legal requirements, but it does not evaluate the quality, depth, teaching methodology, educational philosophy, or clinical experience provided by the curriculum itself.

Arizona Lash Intensive® uses the same curriculum as Lash Intensive®: Bespoke Lash Education™. The difference is the additional 80 hours of live-model clinical training required to complete Arizona's Registered Eyelash Technician Training Program.

I began writing Lash Intensive® on April 18, 2018, years before AI became part of my workflow. The curriculum was researched, written, developed, and refined through years of real-world application, case studies, and clinical experience—not by AI.

AI was used to help generate some of the images for the website, but it was not used to write the curriculum.

There is one exception.

During Lash Intensive®'s accreditation review with NALA, a disagreement arose regarding how cyanoacrylate adhesives cure.

At the time, NovaLash happened to contact me. Their adhesive is designed to cure with moisture. The products I personally use, Xtreme Lashes®, requires three hours to reach a full cure before wetting. I contacted Xtreme Lashes® to confirm that their curing recommendations had not changed.

That led me to ask ChatGPT for additional information.

I discovered that cyanoacrylate adhesives do not all cure the same way. Depending on their formulation, they may cure through moisture (wet cure), ambient humidity (dry cure), UV light, or heat.

Despite years of research beginning in 2018, I had never recognized that multiple curing mechanisms existed. Whether I had overlooked the information or dismissed it because it did not apply to the adhesives I was using, I can't say with certainty.

Ironically, that single point of disagreement prevented Lash Intensive® from receiving accreditation in 2019.

As a result, the curriculum was updated to teach the different cyanoacrylate curing methods so students understand that adhesive behavior depends on the specific chemistry of the product they are using.

That is the only portion of the original curriculum that was expanded with AI's assistance.
